GOOD NEWS TIME FOR HOOK
Hook’s award-winning community project, Hook In Bloom, received a very welcome boost this week when the new estate agents in the village, Bridges Hook and surrounding villages branch, pledged their support for the initiative.
Bridges Hook office manager, Kevin Winchester was so taken by Hook’s 2021 Poppy Challenge that he got in touch with Hook In Bloom to see how Bridges could help. By the time he had finished his conversation he was won over by the many aspects of the In Bloom project and knew he wanted the estate agency to be a part of it.
Amongst a whole raft of initiatives that Bridges will be involved in, which will be announced as the year progresses, Bridges will be sponsoring the Hook In Bloom competition leaflet by designing, printing and delivering it in the lead up to Easter and will also be sponsoring the publicity leaflet for the Hook Flower & Produce Show, planned for Sunday 12th September.
Says Hook In Bloom lead volunteer, Sue Hinton, “It’s wonderful to have major business support for our project and an established estate agency business like Bridges is a superb fit. There are more exciting developments on the horizon and it’s fantastic that the Bridges team want to be actively involved with Hook In Bloom.”
“I loved what Hook In Bloom were doing with their Poppy Challenge but as soon as I heard about the whole initiative, I knew it was a project that our company would want to support,” says Kevin. “We love that Hook is still seen as a village and we wanted to be an active part of the community and give back in such pro-active way from the start.
“This September will mark 30 years since Bridges opened the doors to our very first office in Ash Vale, Surrey on 16th September 1991. Lots has changed since then and we now have 10 offices across eight locations in Surrey and Hampshire, with the most recent being Hook. What hasn’t changed is our reputation as ‘the colourful agent’ so in this, our very special 30th year, sponsoring the Hook In Bloom project couldn’t be a better fit and we are sure the only thing more colourful than our unique heart shaped boards and eye catching advertising will be the flowers ‘in bloom’ this year.
“We pride ourselves on being part of the local community and with all our staff living locally it is important to us to be at the beating heart of the community and not just seen as estate agents but as people that want to see our area thrive and ‘bloom’. We work with over 50 local schools to support their events every year, we are shirt sponsor to Aldershot Town Football Club, we are charity partners with Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham and, just this Christmas gone, our Directors spent a day volunteering at Fleet Food Bank, our Frimley and Camberley offices donated their Christmas party budget to The Hope Hub in Camberley, and there were six other local charities our teams chose to donate their party fund to. We very much hope that Hook In Bloom and the Flower & Produce Show is just the start of Bridges being part of this wonderful community here in Hook.
“The last 12 months, have been challenging for everyone. The Government has allowed property moves to continue through the second and third lockdowns but things are a little different, you’ll find videos tours of our properties on our website (bridges.co.uk) which have been immensely well received. We are still doing ‘in person’ appointments where necessary but we have lots of extra measures in place to allow us to work safely to protect our staff and the public. So, if you are thinking of moving, please get in touch with Bridges and we will help you to do so safely.”
